About
I established my own company more than two decades ago so that I could work directly with my clients, to better understand and meet their specific needs. My experience as a business owner myself has solidified my conviction that a direct client/translator relationship enhances quality control and responsiveness to your needs.
I began my career in translation at a major commercial law firm in Frankfurt, Germany, where I lived, studied, and worked for several years. During that time, I earned my certification as a German-English translator from the Industrie- und Handelskammer, Wiesbaden, Germany. I achieved the highest score given by the IHK in German to English translation.
I am a member of the German American Chamber of Commerce of the Midwest, a lifetime member of the American Translators Association, and a member of the Midwest Association of Translators and Interpreters. My articles on translation services for the legal profession have appeared in The CBA Record, the magazine of the Chicago Bar Association, Legal Management magazine, and others. I have completed course work in copy editing at the University of Chicago Press and have copy edited translations, books and articles for publication, including by non-native English writers.
Trained at the Internationales Studienzentrum, a language institute at the University of Heidelberg, I then studied at Goethe University in Frankfurt before becoming an in-house translator at Feddersen Laule Stroth & Partner (now White & Case, Feddersen), a leading German law firm specializing in corporate law and international mergers and acquisitions.
